Personnel Profile

Virtus graduated second in his class from Malthus Scientific Academy and immediately applied to Starfleet Academy. He excelled in Mathematics, Astrophysics, Warp Drive Theory. Recognized for his work with Doctor Imer Hassar on the Quantum Wormhole Project. Graduated third in his class with Merit in Engineering. Third Year at Academy reprimanded for Violation of Standing Order 13964-3, Article 2, “no Starfleet personnel will pursue research into capital ship capable electromagnetic defraction field theory, or other forms of 'cloaking'.” Confined to quarters during next scheduled leave. After Search and Rescue aboard the U.S.S. Tecumseh, Lieutenant Commander Virtus was AWOL seven days following two weeks leave to Star Base 39-Sierra. Sentenced to seven days in the brig, docked three months pay. Court-martialed for insubordination on Hell's Gate Station (SB-666). Accused of striking a superior officer. A Starfleet Military Tribunal found Lieutenant Commander Virtus guilty of the charge of assaulting Commodore Fakunakue Kaito. Demoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and sentenced to 3 months in the brig. Returned to duty with Task Force One.

Following his tour of duty with Task Force One, Virtus was assigned to the U.S.S. Republic (Galaxy-class) as Chief Engineer for six months before being transferred to Starfleet Corps of Engineers center for Astrophysical Research on Earth to study deep space temporal and spatial anomalies, which often brought him back aboard the Republic when it headed to the frontier and border regions of the Federation. After the Remnant Attacks of stardate 58851 and subsequent destruction of the U.S.S. Republic, Virtus was reassigned to the Office of Inspectors General in the Forensic Astrogation Division with a long-term mission to investigate and analyze the quality of the Sol system sensor monitoring network and recommend design changes. Virtus officially disappeared during this assignment for six months, stowing away on the new Luna-Class U.S.S. Republic under an assumed name within the lower enlisted ranks. He used the Captain's Skiff to escape capture while the ship was docked at Deep Space Four, later turning up in the Bajor system where he requested and was granted political asylum by Captain Kira Nerys aboard space station Deep Space Nine.
